The high-grade pockets tend to occur where the vein is entirely in slate and where there is abundant calcite. Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 21.34 meters and comprised of a 200 foot adit, which penetrates the vein to a vertical depth of 70 feet. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains). The vein is accompanied in places by albitite and diorite dikes similar to other mines in the district and the Flyaway Gulch group. The richest ore shoot was 40 to 50 feet wide and 110 feet along the dip of the vein. The vein varies from a few inches to several feet thick between the contact of hanging wall slate and massive greenstone. The ore body is pinch and swell in form at a thickness of 1.52 meters.
